August 22 Heart Link  £775 was raised for Heart Link, a children's charity based at Glenfield hospital. Heartlink was formed in 1981, originally as a support group for parents and families who had a child suffering from a heart defect. Families then, as now, wanted to meet and talk to others in a similar situation. Over the years the charity has also become committed to improving facilities for young patients, their families and providing much needed valuable medical equipment. Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA), based at East Midlands Airport brings senior doctors and consultants to the scene of incidents as quickly as possible, and then conveys its patients to specialist hospitals that can help specific injuries, not just the nearest hospital.
