Syed has helped fundraisers on many occasions in recent years and hopes to increase the total money raised to £100,000 in ten years.

September 6 In aid of Save The Children
organisers Over 90 people attended this fundraising buffet for the Save the Children fund. The special save the children logoemphasis of this evening was the to raise money to help the situation in Pakistan following the flooding in August. Save the Children plans to target two million people, including one million children, by January 2011. The Charity has already reached 162,000 people in 26 days providing emergency medical care and the distribution of tents, shelter and hygiene kits, food and other supplies.
A grand total of £1,130 was raised from ticket sales, a raffle and a contribution form the restaurant bar.

THE FRIENDS OF The Glenfield Project provides short breaks  for about 35 young people with severe disabilities and associated health care needs. The Project is a support group made up of volunteers who raise funds to support the young people using the Project. (right, organiser Lisa Roe (2nd right) with family & Syed.)

Valerie TaylorJune 14 The Valerie Taylor Trust
A magnificent £1,605 was raised for the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Bangladesh.

Valerie Taylor is a British physiotherapist who has worked in Bangladesh since 1969 and is committed to helping people who have been paralysed by injury or disease. In 1979 she opened the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP).
Valerie has received the highest civilian award of Bangladesh for her contribution to disabled people and in 1993 she was awarded an OBE. More information at www.crp-bangladesh.org

lord mayor of leicester26/4/10 In aid of the the Lord Mayor of Leicester's 2010 Appeal - The Leicester Children's Holiday Centre.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Roger Blackmore has a target of £30,000 towards the upkeep of this holiday centre on the Lincolnshire coast at seaside sceneMablethorpe. A total of £500 was raised.

Many Leicestershire dignitaries supported the event, including the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Jennifer, Lady Gretton JP.
The evening raised £1,107 for the Mayor's Appeal fund.

brainwave organisers with Syed18/1/10 In aid of Brainwave - a charity that provides therapy to unlock the full potential of children aged between 6 months brainwave logoand 12 years who have Development Delay, brain injury or genetic conditions. This event was held on behalf of Emily Swann.

A magnificent £2,050 was raised from tickets sold, a lively auction and a contribution from the bar towards the groups target of £5,000 in 2010. Photo Album»

organisers12/10/09 Buffet organised by staff at the Welcome Break, Leicester Forest East services supporting the BBC 'Children in Need ' appeal. A grand total of £951 was raised from ticket sales, a large raffle and a donation from the restaurant bar.

People are encouraged to volunteer to help with building projects and also to take part in expeditions. Greg will be joining a trek to climb mount Kilimanjaro. 30/3/09 Fundraising for EMICS (East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme). organisers with SyedProfits will fund equipment for more volunteer emergency doctors to help EMICS logosave lives across the East Midlands.
EMICS aims to provide accredited doctors with the equipment necessary for pre-hospital immediate care. When available these volunteer doctors attend incidents notified to them by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Over 90 women celebrated 'United Nations International Women's Day', and raised almost £1,100 for the WaterAid charity. The evening was organised by Harpreet Sangra and it was rounded off with an exhibition of belly dancing.
Harpreet is the Leicester representative of Water Aid during a gap year after graduating and together with local club Khalsa FC, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, is raising awareness of WaterAid.  There are a number of events which will take place over the year and these will all contribute to their target of £10,000.

organisers, education in Khasdobir, Bangladesh3/11/08 Fundraising for school in Bangladesh.
Almost 90 people supported this curry evening to raise funds for pre-school education in Khasdobir in the district of Sylhet, Bangladesh. The school educates around 1,200 children under the age of six.
The fundraisers have supported the school since Government funding was removed in 1995 and several members make frequent trips to the area.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care charity provides high quality nursing totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families. Your local Marie Curie Hospice actively promotes quality of life for people with cancer and provides support for their families. The services are completely free to patients.
World class scientists at the Marie Curie Research Institute are investigating how cancer develops to find better ways of treating the disease in the future.
11 August 2008. Another full house raised funds for projects in Ghana. The group is raising a total of £40,000 to help fund a borehole and two schools in Kumasi and Obuasi.

14 July 2008 Fundraising buffet for a student ministry centre in Bolivia's largest city, Santa Cruz. Another full house raised around £1,900 from ticket sales and a popular silent auction.

Syed with Graham and Debbie FrithThe evening was organised by Graham and Debbie Frith on behalf of the SIM organisation which spreads the word of God all around the world. Tsim logohe funds will be used to build the El Alfarero Student Centre which will be a self-financing student ministry centre and interdenominational ministry, at a total cost of over $1.1m.

loros logoLOROS was again the beneficiary of an evening organised by Steph Walkinshaw of Arnesby. The usual delicious buffet was followed by a high quality raffle which doubled the money that had been raised from ticket sales. Prizes included several items of sporting memorabilia. Billy Walkinshaw won the best prize - a signed Leicester Tigers shirt. Over £1,000 was raised during the evening.
